Tiffany Brown Moss : Stepmother From Hell

      Tiffany Brown Moss

Tiffany Moss was found guilty on April 30, 2019 of starving her 10 year old stepdaughter, Emani Moss, to death, and then conspiring with her husband, the child's father, Eman Moss, to cover it up. Tiffany and Eman have two other children together and there have never been any reports or signs she or Eman abused, neglected, or starved either of those two kids.

Tiffany Moss remains the only female on Georgia's death row. She is being housed at Lee Arrendale State Prison for women, in Raoul, Ga.

      Emani Gabrielle Moss

Emani Gabrielle Moss was born to a drug addicted mother, so the odds were stacked against her from birth, but Emani was just a beautiful and sweet 10 year old little girl when she finally died from weeks of starvation in Lawrenceville,Ga. Before she became severely emaciated, Emani went to school, and there she tried telling teachers but was too afraid and hearing her teachers and grandmother speak of her, it always seemed Emani wanted to make people happy. If she told this horrible secret I feel like in her little mind she felt she would make Eman, her father, sad.

Emani's teachers, family, friends, and anyone who came to know her described her as just precious. Lisa Neal, Emani's fourth grade teacher at Besthesda Elementary School, testified at Tiffany's death penalty trial that " Emani was precious and it was a blessing to have her in my classroom. She was a wonderful friend to every student, even a student that bullied her she tried so hard to be friends with on a daily basis." Emani would tell Mrs. Neal everyday about her baby brother, you could just tell how much love she had for him by the way her face just brightened when talking about him. Sometimes it would seem like Emani wouldn't want to leave school and go home, almost like school became her " safe spot ".

   Tiffany's Largest Grudge

Tiffany went to college and got some sort of dual degree where she could care for the elderly, as well as, minor children. Well in 2010, Tiffany went to court to plead guilty to beating Emani, she left several bruises and Emani had multiple injuries. So of course that guilty plea ended Tiffany's career. Pearly, Tiffany's mom, testified to this at Tiffany's death penalty trial.

 Eman Testifies

Eman Moss 35, Tiffany's husband and Emani's father, made a deal with the prosecution to save himself from the death penalty. He agreed to testify against Tiffany in exchange for a Life Without Parole sentence. Eman is who the state, of course, called their "star witness".
A few days before Emani died, Eman told the jury he had returned from work and found his daughter in the bathtub. She appeared to be convulsing as if she were having a seizure. Her eyes were going side to side up and down, it was hard to even see life in them. But instead of calling 911 or taking Emani to an emergency room, her father chose to remove her from the bathtub and place her on a mattress on the floor of her bedroom. When the prosecutor asked Eman to explain why he chose to not get Emani medical attention, his words " I can't explain it, I'm not God but I just knew she was beyond repair"
Eman told jurors in late April 2013, he was at work when Tiffany called and told him Emani was dead. At the time Eman testified he was not at home a lot because he worked two full time jobs. Tiffany's primary role after losing her teaching career was a housewife and stay at home mom to Emani and two kids they had together, Tristan and Emma. When Eman got home after Tiffany called with that news, he told the jury he went into Emani's room and she was dead, when he touched her she was cold and her essence just wasn't there anymore. Eman testified he then took his daughter's body and wrapped it in a blanket and moved it to the computer room in their apartment. Emani's lifeless body stayed there in that apartment for 5 days while Tiffany and her two kids, Tristan and Emma were most all day every day, they ate, bathed, and watched t.v., Eman Moss went back to working two jobs everyday, just doing normal things, and Emani lay on the floor in a blanket decomposing. Eman said when he would return from work each night, he would go lay on the floor grieving beside Emani's body, yet he never called authorities. Eman did testify initially he wanted to call police, when Emani first past away, but Tiffany refused saying not to not get police involved because she was on probation still for taking a belt and beating Emani with it. Tiffany was also scared because her two children were there. Eman told jurors Tiffany just wanted to hide everything and she even recommended they bury Emani's body, but Eman said he didn't want to do that so he went to Home Depot and a galvanized trash can, trash bags, charcoal, and lighter fluid. Emani's body was already extremely stiff from rigor mortis, so Eman said they had to use duct tape to hold the legs bent. While bending her body, he stated he could hear her bones cracking.
So then one night, really late, Eman and Tiffany, along with their two other children, drove Emani's body, in the trash bags, and along with the trash can and other items Eman purchased at Home Depot, out to a secluded area. Eman said he first got the trash can with the trash bags that contained his daughter's body and then put charcoal in it with lighter fluid sprinkled on the charcoal and lit it on fire hoping to cremate Emani. After the body burned for 5 minutes or so, Eman put the fire out, he said, realizing Emani's body wasn't going to be turned to ashes like in regular cremation. So they left taking everything with them, including the partially cremated body of Emani in a trash can with charcoal on top of her.
Eman drove Tiffany and the younger two kids home and it was time to go to his first job of the day. He went on to start his day, with Emani in the back of Eman's trailblazer still inside the trash can. At this point of the trial Eman just looked shocked telling all this to the jury. It was almost as if he was actually hearing it all himself for the first time. The 6 female 6 male jury was totally shocked and most of them in tears, lots of tears. The defendant, Tiffany Moss, sat stoic, almost bored it seemed.
So, when heading home after his first shift was over, Eman called a friend and asked him to meet him he needed to talk. Eman told the jury his friend met him at a QT, a local gas station. They began talking and Eman told him what happened, and who and what was in the trailblazer. His friend immediately jumped out of the trailblazer and told Eman he really needs to call the police, no matter what Tiffany says. Eman then told the jury he went home and told his wife he was going to call the police. Immediately, Eman told the jury, Tiffany went into a rage and took the kids and left for her mother's house.
Shortly after calling 911, the police arrived. They found Emani's burned body in a trash bag stuffed into a trash can on the curb. The officers immediately took Eman Moss into custody. And then Mr. Porter was done questioning Eman. Judge Hutchinson asked the defense, which was as you know Tiffany Moss representing herself, if she had any questions for Eman, her husband. As she had done with every single witness before him, she said no. She just sat there. Every now and then she would look up or write something down on her notepad. But after hearing her husband, her children's father, and Emani's father as he sat there on that witness stand and told the jury this detailed account of what took place and how they went about trying to cover it up, Tiffany Moss never shed a tear, she barely looked up. I cannot even imagine what the jury thought, they were all in tears.

 Death Row Trial Highlights

The most interesting part of the entire trial to me was Tiffany representing herself. She sat at the defense table all by herself, never once cross examining any witnesses. She never called a witness to testify on her behalf.h When The State would enter evidence they would always show her what it was before entering it and she just barely would look at it. It was almost like the entire trial bored her. To my knowledge, only her mom was there to support her.

In April 2019, a jury took less than 3 hours to return a guilty verdict
